Southern tip of Dead Sea from Mt Sedom

We have made our way to Qumran.  We departed Eilat early this morning.  Our first stop was Timna Park.  We collected some great footage there.  Then we continued our journey north to Mt. Sedom.  This spot offers a great overlook of the southern end of the Dead Sea and mountains of Jordan.  It is definitely off the beaten path, but the view is priceless!

After filming some B-Roll here, we continued our drive north, along the Dead Sea.  We stopped at various places to get some footage of the Dead Sea and ancient sea beds.  Our journey took us through the Arava Valley, the Arava Desert, the Wilderness of Zin (spelled, Sin  in most English Bible translations), and the Desert of Paran; all areas that the ancient Israelites journeyed with Moses.  Our trip also took us past Masada, Ein Gedi, and Qumran.

We are staying the night in a qibbutz located at the ancient site of Qumran.  We

are actually located at the spot where the Jordan River empties into the Dead Sea.  It would have been in this area that John the Baptist would have preached and immersed people in the Jordan River.  It was also in this general location that Jesus was baptized. This is why we decided to film our program, John the Baptist, A New Elijah  here.  So, we'll start filming this program tomorrow morning, just after sunrise.  Once we complete our filming tomorrow, we continue our journey north to the Sea of Galilee.  We'll be spending 10 days in the Galilee, as most of our programs will be filmed in this area.

So we will say goodbye for now.  We hope you'll check back tomorrow afternoon, as our Israel Filming Project continues.  Until then, be blessed!
