We set out early this morning to area of Capernaum. It was from here that we filmed our program, The Sermon on the Mount. Capernaum lies at the foot of the Mt. of Beatitudes, which is the traditional spot where Jesus delivered this mountain-top discourse. Despite all the flies that were swarming at our location, we were able to complete the entire program!
We then traveled to the ancient village of Korazim. This city was built completely from the black volcanic basalt stone that is abundant in the area. It is a striking village to behold but it was HOT! There is a great synagogue here that dates to the 4th century A.D. We know Jesus spent some time ministering in Korazim.
After filming here, we made our way back to our B&B in order to eat some lunch and prepare for our upcoming programs. This afternoon, we made the short trip to the Heights of Arbel. What a great site. The views of the Lake of Galilee and surrounding area are without equal. We got some great footage!
Tomorrow is another early day. We will leave before dawn and head to the ancient Decapolis city of Susita, also known as Hippos. Chelle will be doing a program entitled, Jesus' Journey to the Other Side, from here. We'll then spend the afternoon collecting more B-Roll throughout the area.
