Bet Shean from Tel Bet Shean

We began the day at Bet She'an near the Gilboa Mountains.  We left early, knowing the temperatures would soon rise, and we were not wrong!  For about the first 2 ½ hours there, we were the only visitors.  Only one more family arrived during our time there.  But the splendor of this city is not detracted by the heat!

Bet She'an was a Decapolis city in the time of Jesus (named Scythopolis), but the city's history goes much further back in time.  Tel Bet She'an is the site where the Philistines hung the bodies of King Saul & his sons, as recorded in 1 Samuel 31.  We'll be posting a picture tomorrow where you can see the Tel standing high above the later Roman city.  It is one of the most fascinating sites in Israel, and we were able to get quite a bit of B-roll and still photos that will be incorporated into many future classes to come!

As I (Michelle) am writing, Daniel is preparing for Sinful Men Wanted: The Calling of the Disciples.  We'll leave in just a few moments and go to our shoot site, located just about 5 minutes from our guest house.  We've posted a picture of the area along with this blog, taken when we scouted the site.

So, we'll sign off for now.  Thanks so much for taking the time to read the Daily Blogs!  We feel your prayers and know that ours are with you, as well!

Lehitra'ot!
