Sunrise at Qumran

We began our day with another beautiful sunrise; this time, over the Dead Sea.   We arrived at our filming site at 6:15 am and began filming our program, John the Baptist, A New Elijah at 6:45 am.  It didn't take long for the temperature to start warming up.  This is actually the lowest spot on the surface of the earth!  Thankfully we were able to complete the program by about 10am.  Then we spent another several hours collecting footage from throughout the ancient site of Qumran, the Dead Sea, and of the ancient sea beds.  After getting a quick bite to eat, it was off to the Galilee.

The drive from Qumran to Tiberias takes about two hours.  We did stop at several places along the way to gather some footage of the Jordan Valley.  Upon our arrival, we checked in to our B&B room in the village of Arbel.  This village is located very near the ancient home of Mary Magdalene.

This afternoon we will drive around the Sea (Lake) of Galilee, scouting out our upcoming shoots and collecting B-Roll and still images.  Tomorrow we will journey back down to the ancient city of Bet Shean to gather some footage.  It will be another early morning, as Bet Shean is yet another place that heats up very quickly.  It is about a 30-minute drive from where we are staying.  We will then spend the day scouting, collecting images, and preparing for upcoming programs.

We hope you are enjoying our daily updates and pictures from our Israel Filming Project.  We invite you to join us again tomorrow afternoon.  Until then, Shalom from Arbel!
