Eilat Mts and Red Sea

Good afternoon!  We had another day of productive filming here in the Eilat area.  We were able to collect some great footage in Wadi Shlomo. A wadi is a dry river bed that floods at certain times in the year. We also filmed throughout the Eilat Mountains and along the coast of the Red Sea.  Then late this afternoon, we put the finishing touches on the "Young Jesus" program.  So, another great day!    Road to the Red Sea

We will leave early tomorrow morning and head north to the Dead Sea, where we will overnight at a Kibbutz near Qumran.  Along the journey we will stop at Timna Park.  It was here that the Egyptians smelted copper in antiquity.  We know that the ancient Israelites camped in the area during their desert exodus.  They have also erected a life-size Tabernacle replica here. This footage will be a special part of our first semester class entitled, The Hebrew Scriptures I: The Torah.  From Timna, we will continue the three-hour journey north, collecting footage of the wilderness, Dead Sea, and the mountains of Moab (Jordan) along the way.  At Qumran (where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered) we will be shooting our program, John the Baptist: A New Elijah.  We will begin filming that program on Wednesday.

We hope you are enjoying the daily pictures and updates from our Israel Filming Project.  We want to thank Ramona for continuing to add to the Israel Photo Galleries on the website.  We encourage you to visit the site each day, as new pictures from the land of Israel are added. We hope you will check in again tomorrow afternoon.  Until then, lehitra'ot from Eilat, Israel.
