We enjoyed another productive day of preparation for our Journeys of Jesus series. We will leave the apartment tomorrow morning at 5am and head down to the Judean Wilderness. We will be recording a program on the Temptation and Testing of Jesus in the Wilderness. We will be filming in Wadi Kelt, a fascinating spot about 30 minutes outside of Jerusalem. It offers a stark wilderness setting. It was to this area that Jesus was led by the Spirit for a 40-day period of testing. While there, He was tempted by Satan himself. As we will discuss throughout this program, this time of testing and temptation will answer the question, "What type of Son will Jesus be?" Will Jesus fare better than Israel of Old in His wilderness journey? What lessons can Jesus' disciples gain through Jesus' own time of testing and temptation? How can Jesus' example in the Wilderness inspire His followers during their hours of testing and temptation? We'll seek to answer these questions in this program. We would ask that you be in prayer for us as we film this first program tomorrow.
After we film our wilderness program, we will head down south to the area of Eilat. The trip takes about 4 hours by car. Along the way, we'll be stopping at various points to collect both video and still images for use in the Journeys of Jesus series and in other Study Center classes.
Tonight we made a trip to see one of our friends who has been admitted to the hosptial. Erik has been hospitalized since Monday evening due to a severe stomach virus. He and his wife, Miia, are from Finland, and have been in Jerusalem for about a year. They will soon be returning to Finland where they will be heading up a youth and young adult discipleship ministry. They are a dear couple and we'd ask that you would pray for Erik's full recovery and for God's direction for their lives in the days ahead.
We hope you will check in with us tomorrow afternoon as our Israel Filming Project continues. We'll see you in Eilat!
